Portland, Oregon, December  17, 2007 – – Blue Lake Children’s Publishing (Blue Lake), publisher of The Tessy & Tab Reading Club, announced today the donation of 30,000 Tessy & Tab books to the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation (MJP).  This year, MJP opened four new kindergarten classrooms in Cambodia. The Tessy & Tab books will be translated into the Cambodian language of Khmer for use in classrooms and villages to help the children learn their native language and English.

Fifty third grade students from View Acres Elementary will incorporate a lesson about Cambodia and the MJP Foundation and then have a "packing party" where teams of ten will compete to see who can pack the most books. The student will also write notes to the Kindergarten students in Cambodia wishing them well on their new schools. They may even become Pen Pals!

The packing party will take place at Platt Electric Supply, an independent, family-owned company with dedicated people willing to share their time and expertise. The View Acres students will get a tour of the receiving and shipping departments before going to works on the donation for the MJP Foundation.

“We feel fortunate to be able to share the gift of reading with children around the world ,” said Blue Lake CEO Judy Johnston.  “The Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation is providing essential educational opportunities and we hope our fun and simple books can help kids in Cambodia build early literacy skills.”
